Implementing SharePoint 2003 Technologies
Planning, Deploying and Managing Topologies

Introduction
This three day training class provides IT Professionals with the information required to Plan, Deploy and Manage SharePoint 2003 infrastructure. The instruction will use a combination of presentation, demonstration and hands-on lab exercises. The presentation will blend information with participant discussion to optimize the learning experience. Each student will design and deploy the Window's SharePoint Services and SharePoint Portal Server 2003 infrastructures.
Audience
This course is for IT Professionals responsible for the design, installation, configuration and management of a SharePoint 2003 infrastructure including:

Database Administrators

Network Administrators

Server Administrators

Portal Administrators

IT Managers

Objectives
After completing this course, students should be able to:

Describe the architecture of Windows SharePoint Services

Install and configure Windows SharePoint Services

Describe the architecture of SharePoint Portal Server 2003

Install and configure SharePoint Portal Server 2003

Select the appropriate SharePoint 2003 Topology for a deployment scenario

Secure SharePoint 2003 Products and Technologies

Mange Users and Groups

Plan and implement disaster recovery strategies

Prerequisites
Before attending this course, students should have:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2003

Working knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP, Domain Name System (DNS), and Internet Information Services (IIS)

Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005 administration helpful but not required)

Day One

Module 1 Windows SharePoint Services Architecture
This module explores the components and services that makeup the Windows SharePoint Services Architecture.

Module 2 Windows SharePoint Services Deployment Scenarios
This module introduces the topologies supported by Windows SharePoint Service.

Module 3 Installing Windows SharePoint Services
This module executes the topology designed in Module 2, focusing on a best practices approach.

Module 4 Configuration Windows SharePoint Services
This module examines all of the configuration options for Windows SharePoint Services.

Module 5 Securing Windows SharePoint Sites
This module examines the security considerations for Windows SharePoint Services, including the design and maintenance.

Module 6 Managing Windows SharePoint Users
This module explains the use of groups and users with respect to roles and privileges for the site and content.

Day Two

Module 7 SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Architecture
This module explores the components and services that makeup the SharePoint Portal 2003 Architecture. The relationship and differences between Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint Portal 2003 will be discussed.

Module 8 SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Deployment Scenarios
This module introduces the topologies supported by SharePoint Portal 2003.

Module 9 Installing SharePoint Portal Server 2003
This module executes the topology designed in Module 2, focusing on a best practices approach.

Module 10 Configuring SharePoint Portal Server 2003
This module examines all of the configuration options for SharePoint Portal Server 2003.

Module 11 Securing SharePoint Portal 2003 Sites
This module examines the security considerations for SharePoint Portal Server, including the design and maintenance.

Module 12 Managing SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Users and Groups
This module explains the use of groups and users with respect to roles and privileges for the site areas and content.

Day Three

Module 13 Designing the SharePoint 2003 Infrastructure
This module explores design consideration for various business solutions.

Module 14 Capacity Planning
This module demonstrates how to design and size the SharePoint Infrastructure to accommodate the required capacity.

Module 15 Performance Monitoring
This module demonstrates the tools available to monitor SharePoint across the enterprise.

Module 16 Usage Analysis
This module examines the configuration and benefit of the Usage Analysis tools for SharePoint.

Module 17 Single Sign-On for SharePoint Portal Server 2003
This module discusses the single server sign-on feature functionality and configuration.

Module 18 Securing an Extranet
This module focuses on the security design options available to expose extranet sites with SharePoint.

Module 19 Disaster Recovery
This module reviews a variety of tools available to support disaster recovery. A variety of disaster recovery scenarios will be explored.
